Polk County girls tennis coach Richard Davis has been named the All-Western North Carolina coach of the year by the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Davis led Polk County to its best season in school history, the Wolverines reaching the state 1A quarterfinals. Polk County also won the Western Highlands Conference regular-season championship.

Polk’s doubles team of Hannah Jenne and Tana Harris won the state 1A doubles title while freshman Julia Griffin won the WHC singles tournament.

Jenne was also named to the All-WNC team. She finished 13-3 in singles play this season and was named the WHC player of the year in addition to her state doubles title.

Harris and Griffin earned all-WNC honorable mention.
