Polk County tuned up for Thursday’s conference showdown with Owen with a 5-4 win over West Henderson on Wednesday in a non-conference match at Polk.

As in Tuesday’s match at Mountain Heritage, the final result hinged on Polk County’s doubles play, and the Wolverines won two of three matches to improve to 8-1 on the season.

Winners of six straight matches, Polk County travels to Owen on Thursday for a Western Highlands Conference battle. Owen, Polk County and Hendersonville are currently tied for the conference lead.

Hannah Jenne (10-0) and Tana Harris (10-1) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, with Bella Marino picking up a 10-8 win at No. 4 singles. Jenne and Harris then pulled out a key 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles and Marino and Trinity Branham delivered an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles to seal the victory.
