
Polk County’s hot start in conference play continued Tuesday.
The Wolverines won their third straight Mountain Foothills 7 Conference match, defeating East Rutherford 6-3 at Polk.
Polk County improved to 3-3 overall, 3-0 in league matches, to remain tied for the conference lead with Hendersonville. East Rutherford dropped to 3-3, 2-2.
The Wolverines claimed four of the day’s six singles matches, winning each match from No. 3 through No. 6. Polk also just missed a narrow win at No. 2 as Sarah Vitale battled Lelly Wall before falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 tiebreaker.
Polk won at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the team victory.
The Wolverines are set to hit the road on Thursday, traveling to Brevard for another league contest.
