The doubles championship of Wednesday’s Western Highlands Conference 2A tennis tournament had the look and feel of a Polk County team practice.

For good reason.

Polk County had both of its doubles entrants reach the championship match, with Alivia Livesay and Jamie Greene recording a 6-2, 6-2 win over teammates Mackenzie McCool and Alli Halbkat in that final at Polk County High School.

Both doubles teams qualified for the 2A regional tourney, to be held Oct. 18 at Gardner-Webb University.

Hendersonville’s Victoria Thomas won the WHC singles title.

Polk County is also expected to start playoff action in the 2A team tournament next week. Pairings will be announced this weekend.
