Polk County's Sara Muse reaches for a return during her second singles match on Tuesday

A rare tennis doubleheader proved no problem Tuesday for Polk County’s girls tennis team.

The Wolverines swept both matches with Mountain Heritage, claiming a 9-0 victory in each of the day’s encounters.

The victories improved Polk County’s overall and Western Highlands Conference records to 4-1. The Wolverines close their regular season on Thursday with a home match against Owen, with a win in that match giving Polk a share of the WHC regular-season title.

The Wolverines dropped just one game as a team in the opening victory, then were flawless in the second match in singles, sweeping all six matchups by a 6-0 count. Polk shuffled its doubles teams for the nightcap but still easily swept all three matches.
