Polk County dropped a 5-1 decision to Avery in its season-opening girls tennis match on Thursday at Polk County.
The Wolverines, who two weeks ago weren’t certain if they would have enough players to field a team, got a 10-4 win by Alivia Livesay at No. 1 singles for their lone point in the Western Highlands Conference match.
Polk County is back in action on Monday, hosting North Henderson.
