Polk County’s girls tennis team dropped a pair of matches this week, falling at Mountain Heritage and at West Henderson.
The Wolverines suffered an 8-1 loss Monday to Mountain Heritage. Missing three starters for various reasons, Polk County head coach Richard Davis was left with just five players and had to juggle his starting lineup to account for the missing players.
Polk County then faced a talented West Henderson squad on Tuesday and dropped a 7-2 decision.
“West is just too good for us to deal with,” Davis said. “However, I was very proud once again with the way we competed and got better. Hopefully, when we get into the second round of conference match play, we will be able to possibly pick up a couple of wins if we have our full complement of players.”
Polk County travels Thursday to face Hendersonville.
