Polk County's Bella Sheffron returned to the Wolverine lineup Tuesday with a singles win

Polk County gave itself a shot at a share of the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference girls tennis regular-season title, downing Brevard 8-1 Tuesday in a league match in Brevard.

The Wolverines improved to 9-1 overall, 8-1 in conference play. Polk travels Thursday to face Hendersonville (12-0, 9-0) and would split the MF7 crown with the Bearcats with a win.

Polk County wrapped up Tuesday’s match in singles play, sweeping the six matches. Top seed Bella Sheffron returned to the lineup after missing last week’s action and scored a 6-0, 6-4 win over Marley Stewart to begin the sweep.

The Wolverines also took two of three doubles matches on the courts where the conference tournament will be played next week.
