Wolverines’ unbeaten run ends in tourney loss to Panthers

Polk County Middle School’s impressive late-season run came to an end Wednesday in Franklin as the Wolverines fell 4-3 to Macon Middle in the first round of the Blue Ridge Conference Tournament in Franklin.

The narrow defeat snapped Polk Middle’s six-game unbeaten streak, during which the Wolverines had gone 5-0-1 to build momentum heading into postseason play. Polk ended its season with an 8-4-1 record.

Amberina Jenne led the Wolverines’ offensive effort with two goals, while Kenley Savaia added one. Despite the three-goal output, Polk couldn’t overcome Macon’s attack in the back-and-forth contest.

Macon Middle (7-4-1) advances to the BRC semifinals with the win.
