Polk County's Rhian Alley and the Wolverines host Hendersonville on Wednesday.

Polk County will head into Wednesday’s key conference clash with Hendersonville ranked sixth in this week’s North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association 2A state poll.

The Wolverines (6-2) dropped one spot after losses last week to 4A T.C. Roberson and 3A A.C. Reynolds.  Carrboro remains the top team in the 2A poll.

Polk County hosts Hendersonville on Wednesday in an important Western Highlands Conference match. The Wolverines currently lead the conference with a 4-0 mark, a half-game ahead of Hendersonville (7-3-1, 4-1) and a game ahead of Madison (5-2-1, 3-1). The Bearcats suffered their lone conference loss to Madison on penalty kicks.

Junior varsity play begins at 5 p.m. in Wolverine Stadium, with the varsity to follow at approximately 6:30 p.m.
