Wolverines, Panthers battle to 0-0 draw
Polk County and Franklin battled to a 0-0 draw Thursday in a non-conference girls soccer match in G.M. Tennant Stadium.
The Wolverines (1-1-2) did come ever so close to a winning goal in the final minute of the match. Reese Alley dribbled free from a defender while in the penalty area and fired a shot to the right of Franklin goalkeeper Sidonia Morales, only to see Morales deflect the low line drive with her right foot, preserving the draw.
Morales also stopped a point-blank Polk shot during a second-half flurry as Franklin dropped to 2-1-1.
It is the first shutout of the season for Polk County and goalkeeper Sara Muse.
The Wolverines are slated to travel to R-S Central on Friday before hosting the Hilltoppers on Monday.
