Wolverines deliver shutout at Mitchell

Polk County scored three goals in each half Wednesday to defeat Mitchell 6-0 in a Western Highlands Conference girls soccer match in Bakersville.

Gabby Savaia got the Wolverines on the board in the fifth minute off a pass from Reeve Carroll. Kenley Savaia added two goals in the 20th and 22nd minutes, the second off a Carroll assist, to give Polk County a 3-0 halftime lead.

Hurley Bell scored twice in the second half, first in the 41st minute off a Carroll through ball, then again in the 45th minute off a Gabby Savaia pass across the top of the box that she buried first-time into the top right corner of the goal.

Charley Dusenbury completed the scoring in the 47th minute off a pass from Gabby Savaia.

Cate Brown made three saves for Polk County.

Polk County (8-1-4, 7-0-1 WHC) travels to East Henderson on Friday.
