Polk County Middle School’s girls soccer team delivered a solid effort Thursday, shutting out Apple Valley Middle 5-0 in Blue Ridge Conference action at Utz Field.
The Wolverines (3-1) controlled the match from the outset, building a commanding 4-0 lead by halftime before adding another goal in the second period to secure their third victory of the season.
Kenley Savaia led the Polk County attack with a hat trick, scoring twice in the first half and completing the three-goal performance with a second-half tally. Amberina Jenne opened the scoring for the Wolverines, while Natalie Eberlin-Morgan converted a penalty kick to round out the first-half scoring surge.

Defensively, Polk Middle limited Apple Valley to just four shots on goal throughout the contest.
“We’ve got a couple of good transition plays in, and they’re starting to talk more, which we like to hear,” said Polk Middle head coach Blair Ruth. “We’re just playing all around pretty well.
“We did a lot right. We were playing smooth, getting through balls, a little bit of everything.”
The loss dropped Apple Valley to 0-3 for the season.The Wolverines return to action on March 20 when they host Brevard Middle at Utz Field. Match time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
