
Polk County Middle head girls soccer coach Jessica Marrow had a simple message Wednesday for her squad.
“110 percent confidence in them,” Marrow said.
The Wolverines then proved the vaildity of Marrow’s faith with a 1-0 victory at Flat Rock in a Blue Ridge Conference match.
Polk Middle improved to 3-3 with its third straight victory. The two teams meet again Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Utz Field.
Reeve Carroll scored the winning goal in the first half for the Wolverines.
“The girls came out ready to play and faced a tough team,” Marrow said. “Cate Brown had multiple saves and held out strong throughout the game. She played smart.
“Arie Parmalee and Raney Tallon had great headers, they won the 50/50 balls and proved what we’ve been working on at practice. We made smart, fast passes.”
