A showdown with the Blue Ridge Conference East Division’s top team didn’t go Polk Middle’s way Wednesday as the Wolverines dropped a 4-2 decision to Hendersonville Middle at Utz Field.
The loss to the 10-2 Bearcats ended the Wolverines’ regular season at 5-7.
It wasn’t a season-ending setback, though. Polk Middle finished fourth in the East Division and will travel Monday to Macon Middle in the opening round of the BRC Tournament.

That match with the West Division-champion Panthers is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
