Polk County Middle battled Brevard Middle to a scoreless tie Tuesday in the regular-season finale for both teams in Brevard.

The tie allowed the Blue Devils (11-0-1) to finish as Blue Ridge Conference East Division champions, with the Wolverines (12-1-1) placing second.

It marked the second time this season that the two teams played double overtime. Brevard earned a 3-2 win in the first meeting between the schools.

“There’s nothing I would’ve changed about the way the girls played today,” said Polk Middle head coach Jessica Marrow. “They played really hard despite the outcome of the game.”

The Wolverines will open play Wednesday at home in the opening round of the BRC postseason tournament.
