Polk Middle's Elena Carroll prepares to redirect a corner kick with her body during the second half of Tuesday's action.

Polk County Middle’s girls soccer team continued its solid start to the 2020 season on Tuesday, holding Macon Middle scoreless in a 6-0 victory at Utz Field.

The Wolverines improved to 2-0 and have outscored their opponents 14-1 to open the season.

Sophia Overholt had her second five-goal outing in as many days, scoring all of those in the first half. Caroline Taylor had three assists on those goals, with Hayden Blackwell and Zaelea Eller assisting the others.

Eller scored off a corner kick in the second half for the Wolverines’ other goal.

Maggie McCammon had 10 saves as the Polk Middle defense largely kept Macon in check throughout both halves.

The Wolverines are set to travel Thursday to face Hendersonville Middle.
