Polk Middle's Reeve Carroll scored two goals in Monday's win

Polk County Middle kicked off a busy week of action on Monday with a 5-0 victory at Flat Rock Middle in Blue Ridge Conference girls soccer play.

The Wolverines improved to 12-1 with their ninth shutout of the season.

Reeve Carroll scored a pair of first-half goals to give Polk a 2-0 lead at the break. Kenley Savaia then scored twice in the second half, with Molly Justice adding a goal for the final margin.

“The girls knew that we needed to win this game and they played aggressively to the ball, won the ball out of the air, beat Flat Rock to the ball and never gave up,” said Polk Middle head coach Jessica Marrow. “We have such a talented group of girls and I am so proud of all their accomplishments.”

Polk Middle travels Tuesday to Brevard Middle for a match that will decide the BRC East Division champion. The undefeated Blue Devils handed the Wolverines their only loss of the regular season, defeating Polk on a late goal in double overtime. Polk could earn a share of the East Division title with a win.

The Wolverines are scheduled to then return home Wednesday for their BRC playoff opener, with the opponent to be determined based on the result of Tuesday’s match.
