
Polk girls fall at Owen in season finale
Polk County closed its 2022 girls soccer season on Wednesday with a 6-1 loss at Owen.
The Wolverines dropped to 5-14-1 with the loss. Polk County is not expected to earn an at-large bid to the state 2A playoffs.
Polk played without starting goalkeeper Maggie McCammon, sidelined by a knee injury. Owen (10-6-1) responded by scoring four goals in the first 12 minutes of the match to take an early advantage.
The Warhorses stretched the lead to 6-0 before Elena Carroll tallied in the 79th minute.
