Polk County's Hayden Blackwell

Polk County battled Friday to its third tie of the season, earning a 1-1 draw at North Henderson in non-conference girls soccer play.

The Knights (0-1-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the first half on a Reese Smith goal. The Wolverines (0-0-3) had a scoring chance just before halftime as a corner kick bounced in front of the goal, but no Polk County player could tap it in.

The Wolverines, though, did get an equalizer early in the second half as Elena Carroll poked in a Caroline Taylor corner kick. That would prove to be all the scoring on a rainy evening.

Maggie Johnson had eight saves for Polk County.

The Wolverines are set to open Mountain Foothills 7 Conference play on Tuesday, hosting Hendersonville.
