Polk battles to draw at North Henderson in season opener

Gabby Savaia and Reeve Carroll each scored as Polk County rallied to earn a 2-2 draw with North Henderson in Wednesday’s season opener in Hendersonville.

North Henderson (0-1-2) took an early 1-0 lead before Savaia answered in the seventh minute, chipping a shot toward goal that hit the turf and spun away from the goalkeeper into the net. North Henderson scored again to take a 2-1 halftime advantage.

Carroll equalized in the 47th minute with a long drive from the right wing that cleared the North Henderson goalkeeper. The teams battled to a stalemate over the final 33 minutes.

Kenley Savaia provided an assist for Polk County.

Polk County (0-0-1) travels to Brevard on Friday for a 6 p.m. match.
