
Polk County’s girls soccer season has come to an end in an unfortunate, but familiar, manner.
Due to a positive COVID-19 test within the program and the resulting quarantine of the team, the Wolverines will be forced to forfeit Wednesday’s 1A second-round playoff game with Woods Charter. Polk County’s season will end with a 10-3-1 record.
The scenario is somewhat similar to that of Polk County’s volleyball team, which finished its season with a 10-0 record but had to opt out of postseason play due to a positive test prior to the start of the playoffs.
The Wolverine soccer team defeated South Stanley 5-0 on Monday in its first-round match.
stWoods Charter will move on to the third round to face either Bishop McGuiness or Christ The King.
