
Polk County seniors Sara Muse earned recognition as the Western Highlands Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and Caelan Gaul was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year for the 2021 spring season.
Muse and Gaul were two of six Wolverines earning All-WHC honors this season. All were recognized during the team’s postseason awards banquet.
The Wolverines finished 9-3-1 this season, reaching the second round of the state 1A playoffs before being forced to forfeit their final match due to a COVID-19 quarantine. Gaul led the team with 20 goals while Muse averaged almost seven saves per game.
Also earning all-conference honors were Belen Akers, Rollins Carter, Taytem Johnson and Scout Harmon.
Six Wolverines were also named to the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association 1A All-Region 10 squad. Receiving that recognition were Muse, Gaul, Johnson, Akers, Harmon and Julia Griffin.
Head coach Lennox Charles and junior varsity coach George Alley also handed out postseason awards. Those included:
