Hendersonville Middle scored a goal in each half Monday en route to a 2-0 win over Polk County Middle in Blue Ridge Conference girls soccer play at Utz Field.

The Wolverines (2-5) more than held their own against the Bearcats (6-1). But Hendersonville inched ahead to a 1-0 lead at the half, then added an insurance goal midway through the final half.

The Bearcat defense largely held Polk Middle at bay, though Polk’s Kylie Lewis narrowly missed a goal in the waning minutes on a free kick from just outside the penalty area.
