Girls soccer: Polk rallies in second half to top East Henderson
Scout Harmon’s second-half goal Monday helped lift Polk County to a 2-1 win over East Henderson in girls soccer action in Flat Rock.
East Henderson grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half, but Polk County evened the match in the second half as Caelan Gaul took a pass from Belen Akers and drove a shot inside the near post to even the match.
A few minutes later, a Kinsley Huskey shot from the penalty area was deflected to Harmon, who tucked a shot into the side of the goal for the game-winner.
Sara Muse had six saves, and head coach Lennox Charles praised the defensive work of Rollins Carter, Julia Griffith, Ella Waldman and Marilyn Castillo as key to the win.
Now 1-0, Polk County is scheduled to travel Wednesday to East Rutherford for another non-conference match.
