Apple Valley used a strong first half Monday to hand Polk County Middle a 2-1 defeat in Blue Ridge Conference girls soccer action in Hendersonville.
The Knights grabbed a 2-0 lead at halftime in the season opener for both teams. Polk Middle responded with a strong second half, with goalkeeper Cate Brown leading a hard-working defense that kept Apple Valley from tallying again.
Leah Dotson scored on a pass from Kyle Lewis for the Wolverines’ goal.
