Caelan Gaul had her second hat trick of the season Monday as Polk County topped Avery 6-1 in a Western Highlands Conference girls soccer match in Newland.
The Wolverines scored in the seventh minute as Scout Harmon looped a short shot over the Avery goalkeeper, and that 1-0 lead still stood at the half.
Avery tied the match in the seventh minute of the second half on an Ellie Pittman goal. But from that point, it would be all Polk County.
Gaul scored in the 48th and 51st minutes, the latter on a long drive from near the Avery sideline, then added her third goal off a corner kick in the 63rd minute.
Caroline Taylor then scored twice in the final 15 minutes for the Wolverines.
Belen Akers had two assists for Polk County, with Taytem Johnson and Madi Smith each adding one assist.
Polk County improved to 4-1 overall, 2-1 in WHC play, with the win while Avery dropped to 0-4, 0-3.
