
First-half goal flurry powers East Lincoln past Polk
Taylor Barrineau scored three first-half goals Wednesday to lift East Lincoln to a 3-0 win over Polk County in girls soccer action in Denver.
The Mustangs improved to 2-0, with Polk County falling to 0-1 after its season opener.
The Wolverines had six shots on goal, but were unable to tally.
Polk County travels back to East Lincoln on Friday to face North Lincoln in a 5 p.m. match.
The two matches are part of the 12th Annual Andy Kosmala and Miranda Eckard Memorial Tournament, held each year to raise money for local community members fighting significant health issues.
This year’s event is honoring Katrina Robinson, an assistant principal at East Lincoln Middle School who recently received a clean bill of health after a battle with cancer.
