Brevard Middle staves off Polk Middle rally

Brevard Middle held off a determined Polk Middle comeback Thursday to hand the Wolverines a 2-1 setback in Blue Ridge Conference girls soccer action in Brevard.

The Blue Devils scored twice in the first half, but Polk Middle (3-3) sliced the deficit late in the second half.

Jillian Brown won a battle for a loose ball and drew a foul while doing so. Leah Dotson took the free kick and lifted a perfect strike toward the back post, where Charley Dusenbury headed the kick into the net.

Brevard kept the Wolverines off the scoreboard the rest of the way to secure the win.

Polk Middle returns to action on Monday, traveling to Flat Rock Middle.
