Allison’s hat trick helps spark Polk JVs in season-opening win

Megan Allison scored a hat trick Monday as Polk County’s junior varsity opened its season with a 3-0 win over Madison in girls soccer action in G.M. Tennant Stadium.

Allison’s first goal came in the 12th minute as she deflected a Madison pass into the net. Her second goal came some 11 minutes later on a hard, high drive from the left side of the penalty area.

Polk County (1-0) still held that 2-0 late in the match when Allison tallied for the final time, taking a pass near the top of the penalty area and finding free space to dribble and unleash a low shot into the left corner of the net.

Head coach George Alley cited the attacking play of Zaelea Eller, who assisted one of the goals, and the defensive play of Luna Gonzalez, Jocelynn Ramirez-Chavez, Caroline Emory, Caroline Worthington and goalkeeper Maggie McCammon as vital to the win.

The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Owen for another Western Highlands Conference match.
