Wolverines sit 23rd in MaxPreps state 2A girls basketball rankings

Polk County is one of three Western Highlands Conference teams ranked in the top 50 in the state in this week’s MaxPreps 2A girls basketball rankings.

The Wolverines (6-3) are 23rd in this week’s computer-generated rankings. WHC co-leader Madison and Mountain Heritage are ranked 5th and 7th, respectively. Two of Polk County’s three losses were to Madison and Mountain Heritage.

Polk County returns from its holiday break on Friday, hosting Mitchell in a WHC clash with junior varsity games beginning at 4 p.m. and varsity play at 6:30 p.m.
