Wolverine JVs pull away to subdue Panthers

1 min read

Polk County notched its second straight win Tuesday, handing Patton a 35-12 defeat in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference junior varsity girls basketball matchup at Polk.

The Wolverines (3-2) faced an early challenge from the Panthers, battling to a 4-4 tie at the end of the opening quarter. Polk began to find some offensive rhythm in the second quarter and inched to a 14-8 lead at the half.

But Amiyah Waters scored seven of her nine points in the third quarter as the Wolverines steadily pulled away in the second half. Polk’s defense again played a key role in that, holding Patton to just four points in the second half.

Polk County is slated to be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Avery for a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
