Twitty’s double-double helps depleted Polk girls down East Henderson
Marissa Twitty recorded a double-double and Olivia Overholt nearly had a triple-double Tuesday as a depleted Polk County rolled past East Henderson, 58-29, in a non-conference girls basketball clash in Flat Rock.
The Wolverines suited up just seven players due to sickness, but that didn’t stop Polk County from improving to 7-1 on the season. East Henderson fell to 2-6.
Twitty had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Wolverines, including 13 points in the first quarter as Polk County took a 21-16 lead. Polk then held East Henderson to a total of 13 points in the final three quarters, building a 36-20 halftime lead and never trailing thereafter.
Overholt finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Emmie McDowell had 12 points, with Tori Thompson also scoring nine points.
Alana Jergenson had four points, Rachael Davis had two and Sara Muse added one for Polk County, which will be back in action on Thursday, hosting Veritas Christian Academy at 6 p.m.
