A strong third quarter propelled Hendersonville past Polk County in junior varsity girls basketball action Tuesday at Polk County as the visiting Bearcats secured a 38-26 victory.

Polk County (6-4) kept the contest close in the first half, trailing just 19-18 at the break. The Wolverines responded to Hendersonville’s early 12-8 advantage by outscoring the visitors 10-7 in the second period, maintaining momentum heading into halftime.

Hendersonville (12-1) took control in the third quarter, limiting Polk County to just three points while adding 13 of its own. That decisive stretch gave the Bearcats a commanding lead heading into the final frame, where they sustained their defensive intensity to seal the win.

Amiyah Waters and Honesty Jackson paced the Wolverines’ offensive effort with seven points each, while Sofie Abrahamsen added five. Exziah Staley contributed four points, and Beija Olivari chipped in three.

Polk County will be back in action Friday, hosting R-S Central in another Mountain Foothills 7 Conference tussle.
