
T.C. Roberson showed Friday why it’s considered one of the top girls basketball teams in Western North Carolina, racing to a 63-17 victory over Polk County in Asheville.
The Rams (9-4) have yet to lose to a WNC team, their four losses coming to Charlotte Catholic, Northern Guilford and two out-of-state schools.
Polk County dropped to 5-5 with the loss.
How it happened: T.C. Roberson scored the game’s first 15 points, with Polk finally tallying with 4:07 left in the first period on a Bailey Staton drive to the basket.
The Rams built a 49-9 halftime lead, led by guard Ryann Hernandez, who finished with 16 points, and guard E.P. Sluder, who had 14.
Scoring: Staton led Polk County with 10 points, with Sarah Gray, Kylie Lewis and Exziah Staley each scoring two points. Jayden Duncan added one point.
Next up: Polk County returns to Mountain Foothills 7 Conference play, traveling Tuesday to R-S Central.
