Staton scores 1,000th career point in win over East Henderson

Polk County junior Bailey Staton scored her 1,000th career point Thursday during the second quarter of the Wolverines’ game with East Henderson.

Staton drove the length of the court and converted a layup early in the second period to become the sixth player in Polk County girls history to surpass 1,000 points. She joins Kim Staley, Brianna Cunningham, Hayley Kropp, Autumn Owen and Olivia Overholt in the 1,000-point club.

Staton, who reached the mark in her 55th career game, finished the night with 25 points to help lead Polk County to a 72-47 victory as the Wolverines improved to 2-0 on the season. Her career total now stands at 1,018 points.
