Sizzling start helps power Pisgah girls past Polk

A Pisgah team that reached the 3A Sweet 16 last season showed that same potential Wednesday, running past Polk County 71-43 in a non-conference matchup in Canton.

The Bears improved to 3-0 this season, with the Wolverines falling to 1-2.

Pisgah raced to a 41-11 halftime lead as eight different players scored in the first two quarters. A 21-2 run in the second period effectively sealed the outcome, giving Pisgah its halftime advantage.

Bailey Staton had 18 points to lead Polk County, with Mia Bradley scoring 16. Bradley and Staton each hit three 3-pointers in the game.

Jayden Duncan added four points, with Charley Dusenbury scoring three and Kylie Lewis finishing with two.

Polk County will travel Wednesday to Madison for another non-conference game.
