Polk County struggled offensively Saturday, allowing Travelers Rest to claim a 44-34 victory over the Wolverines in the semifinals of the Knights Christmas Tournament at Apple Valley Middle School.
The Wolverines (9-1) suffered their first loss of the season largely due to their shooting woes. Polk hit 10-of-45 shots from the field while going 11-of-22 at the free-throw line.
Travelers Rest (8-4) grabbed a 14-6 lead at the end of the first period and never trailed, earning a spot in Monday’s tournament championship game against Mountain Heritage.

Polk County will meet West Henderson in the third-place game, set for Monday at 2 p.m. at Apple Valley.
Bailey Staton finished with 14 points, setting a school record for career 3-pointers made in the process. Charley Dusenbury had seven points, with Kylie Lewis scoring six and grabbing eight rebounds.
Kiera Littlejohn had four points, with Reeve Carroll scoring two and Mia Bradley adding one.
