Polk County Middle's Jill Brown

Polk County Middle raced to a 24-point halftime lead Monday and went on to claim a 42-16 victory at Brevard Middle in Blue Ridge Conference girls basketball action.

The Wolverines improved to 4-2 with the win.

Polk grabbed a 14-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, then held the Blue Devils to a lone basket in the second period, building a 30-6 margin at the half.

Kenzie Alm had 12 points to pace Polk Middle, with Reeve Carroll scoring 11. Amiyah Waters added seven, with Honesty Jackson scoring six.

Sofie Abrahamsen added four points and Amber Chupp scored two for Polk Middle, which will host Rugby Middle on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
