Polk Middle's Audy Simmons had four points Thursday in the Wolverines' win

Polk County Middle made certain its final regular-season home game Thursday would be a worthy send-off for its eighth graders.

The Wolverines raced to a 15-2 first-quarter lead, grew the margin to 21 points at halftime and went on to take a 41-24 victory over Brevard Middle in a Blue Ridge Conference East Division clash.

Polk Middle improved to 8-2 overall, 7-1 in East Division play. The Wolverines close the regular season with games Tuesday at Rugby Middle and Thursday at Apple Valley Middle.

Kenzie Alm and Sofie Abrahamsen helped power Polk’s quick start, with Alm scoring six points in the opening quarter and Abrahamsen adding five. Amiyah Waters took over in the second quarter, hitting eight of her team-high 14 points to help the Wolverines grab a 29-8 edge at intermission.

Reeve Carroll finished with nine points, Alm had eight and Abrahamsen had five for Polk Middle. Audy Simmons added four points, with Kenley Savaia scoring one.
