Polk Middle roars early en route to triumph at Apple Valley

Polk County Middle’s girls showed no rust Thursday from their holiday break.

On the court for the first time in almost a month, the Wolverines built a double-digit lead in the first quarter en route to a 32-16 victory at Apple Valley Middle in Blue Ridge Conference action.

Polk Middle (4-4) opened a 14-2 lead at the end of the first period and relied on that cushion for the rest of the evening in winning its first game since December 12.

Kenzie Alm led the Wolverines with 15 points, with Camdyn Israel-Garrett adding seven. Lucy Tessnair had five points, with Preslie Bradley scoring three and Kenley Savaia adding two.

Polk Middle will return to action on Monday, traveling to Brevard Middle for a 4:30 p.m. game
