Polk Middle races past Rugby to keep share of division lead

Polk County Middle continued its quest for a Blue Ridge Conference East Division title, downing Rugby Middle 37-18 Tuesday in Mills River.

The Wolverines improved to 9-2 overall, 8-1 in East Division play, remaining tied for the division lead with Hendersonville Middle. Polk travels Thursday to Apple Valley for its final regular-season game.

Polk built a 17-8 lead at halftime, relying in part on its inside duo of Sofie Abrahamsen and Amiyah Waters. Abrahamsen finished with 11 points while Waters added 10.

Reeve Carroll led Polk Middle with 12 points, with Jill Brown and Honesty Jackson each adding two.
