Polk Middle hangs on to down Lake Lure Classical

Polk County Middle held off Lake Lure Classical on Tuesday for a 24-22 victory in a non-conference matchup in Lake Lure.

The Wolverines (3-7) led 20-15 entering the fourth quarter but were held scoreless until 1:28 remained in the game, when Ryleigh Dill scored. Preslie Bradley later added what proved to be the winning basket.

Dill led Polk Middle with eight points. Bradley added six, Emily Dotson and Kenzie Alm each scored four and Adalyn Painter finished with two.

The victory came in Polk County Middle’s first game since a Dec. 18 home loss to Lake Lure Classical.

Polk County Middle returns to Blue Ridge Conference play on Thursday, hosting Hendersonville Middle at 4:30 p.m.
