Polk Middle girls see winning streak snapped at Waynesville

Polk County Middle suffered just its second loss of the season on Thursday, falling 36-21 at Waynesville Middle in a Blue Ridge Conference girls basketball matchup.

The Wolverines (5-2) saw their five-game winning streak come to an end heading into the holiday break. Head coach Michelle Fagan said several team members are battling injuries and looks forward to the break as a time to rest and heal.

Waynesville Middle improved to 6-1 with the win.

Bailey Staton led Polk Middle with seven points, with Reeve Carroll adding six. Cate Brown and Charley Dusenbury each scored three points while Kaylynne Holbert added two.

Polk Middle will be back in action on Jan. 6, hosting Apple Valley Middle.
