Polk County Middle's Reeve Carroll leads a fast break during a recent game

Polk Middle moved into first place in the Blue Ridge Conference East Division on Thursday with a 33-28 victory over Brevard Middle in a girls basketball clash at Polk.

The Wolverines (4-1) began the day tied for the East lead with the Blue Devils (3-1), but handed Brevard its first loss to take sole possession of the East’s top spot.

Bailey Staton unofficially had 21 points to pace Polk Middle, with Cate Brown scoring six points. Beiji Olivari and Charley Dusenbury were each credited with four points, with Reeve Carroll adding one.

Polk Middle completes the first half of its East schedule on Monday, traveling to Rugby Middle.
