Macon Middle used a 15-4 run in the second quarter Monday to pave the way for a 48-18 victory over Polk County Middle in the season opener for both teams in Franklin.
The two teams were deadlocked at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter, but Macon relied on its defense to hold Polk to just 11 points the rest of the game. That included just three baskets from the field.
Jill Brown led Polk Middle with six points, with Reeve Carroll scoring five. Kenzie Alm had three points, with Honesty Jackson and Sofie Abrahamsen each scoring two.
The Wolverines will make their home debut on Tuesday, hosting Smoky Mountain Middle for a 4:30 p.m. game.
