Polk County's Raney Tallon

Polk County earned its first win of the season Friday, holding off Patton to take a 36-30 win in girls junior varsity basketball action.

The Wolverines improved to 1-5 with the win.

Patton took an 11-7 lead at the end of the first period, but Polk County responded with a 9-1 run to grab a 16-12 advantage at the break.

The Wolverines pulled away to a 34-22 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but the Panthers answered with eight straight points, closing to within four with 2:14 remaining. But Jeri Allen scored on a putback with 1:28 to go and Polk held Patton scoreless the rest of the way to secure the win.
