Polk County's Bianca Pitts had six points in Thursday's win

Five and two were the key numbers Thursday for Polk County’s junior varsity girls basketball team.

The Wolverines are down to just five players on their roster, but that quintet earned their second straight victory with a 37-14 win at Chase.

Polk County improved to 2-3 with the win.

How it happened: The Wolverines grabbed an early lead and never let go, building a 19-10 margin by halftime and continuing to expand the lead throughout the final two quarters.

Akyla Cunningham had much to do with that, scoring nine of her game-high 15 points in the opening two periods.

Scoring: Avia Cunningham added eight points for the Wolverines, with Gabby Savaia and Bianca Pitts each scoring six. Jeri Allen added two points.

Next up: Polk County is slated to play at Patton on Friday in another Mountain Foothills 7 Conference game.
