Polk County has received a first-round bye in the state 3A girls basketball playoffs and will open postseason action on Thursday at home.
The Wolverines (19-6) are seeded eighth in the 3A West field. Polk will open play Thursday against the winner of ninth-seeded Draughn (19-8) and 24th-seeded Madison (5-20), the final team in the West bracket.
East Surry enters as the top seed in the West and would likely be Polk’s third-round opponent should the Wolverines advance.
