Polk girls romp past Chesnee in season opener

Polk County’s girls basketball team opened its season Monday with a resounding 47-21 victory over Chesnee in the opening round of the Turkey Shootout tourney at Chesnee.

The Wolverines (1-0) will take part in Tuesday’s tourney championship game against York (S.C.) at 7:30 p.m.

Senior Olivia Overholt scored 20 points and had five steals to lead the Polk County attack. It marked Overholt’s first game action since the 2019-2020 season after sitting out last season.

Tori Thompson had seven points and five assists, with freshman Mia Bradley scoring eight points. Kiera Littlejohn added six points, with Kinsley Huskey, Gavionna Carson and Kylie Lewis each scoring two.
